Leon Mathijssen

Senior Global Sales & Account Manager Germany & Switzerland

I have been with the company for five years now, bringing a background in Geography, German, and Tourism & Recreation from my teaching degree. This education not only provided me with in-depth subject knowledge but also equipped me with the pedagogical skills to guide and inspire others effectively.

Choosing the most unique travel destination is nearly impossible for me, as I’ve been fortunate enough to visit incredible places like Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Barbados, the US, Canada, and Russia. Each journey has been special in its own way—whether it’s the rich cultures and breathtaking landscapes of Indonesia and South Africa or the diverse cities and vast scenery of Russia and Canada. What all these destinations have in common is the inspiration they’ve given me and the new perspectives they’ve offered. That diversity is exactly what makes it impossible to name just one as the most unique!

I live by the quote:

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.”

What makes the travel industry so fascinating is its constant dynamism and the opportunities it presents. Adapting to evolving customer needs and industry trends keeps it an exciting field. My years of experience in different roles allow me to contribute strategically to growth and optimization, which continuously motivates and inspires me.

For me, success is not about one single moment but rather the recognition I receive from both clients and my employer. It’s a great feeling to see that my efforts are valued and that they truly make an impact. Those moments of appreciation are what I consider the biggest wins.

In my role, I face challenges that I can influence and actively work towards solving. These challenges allow me to apply my strategies and skills to achieve the best outcomes. However, there are also unexpected challenges beyond my control. Striking the right balance between the two is key, helping me stay focused while remaining flexible in my approach.

Colleagues would describe me as loyal, professional, and competent. What they may not know about me is that I have a deep passion for music and used to play bass in a band.

If I could learn something completely unrelated to work, it would be something that enriches my personal growth and broadens my horizons even further.
